Black Knight's Fortress

Walkthrough

Death sends you to break through the Black Knight fortress that blocks the road to the Umbral Sands. Gather the thirteen shards of the Dreaming Stone across Dowdun Reach, rebuild it, and put down the Black Knight Titan.

1. 1

   Start with Death

   Speak to Death in the Forgotten Temple. He notes your work in Fellhollow is done well enough that there is more ahead, and says a colleague awaits in the Umbral Sands, but tells you to find Cathan first to gather allies. Cathan waits east of Fellhollow, beside the ominous gatehouse on Silverthorn Keep's southern edge.

   Follow Cathan through the door

   Cathan explains the gatehouse leads to a fortress that stands in the way of the Umbral Sands, and that the Wise Old Man has already stormed past him. Walk through the open gateway and enter the ominous door — a short cutscene plays — then push south through The Approach until you reach The Courtyard.

   Make camp and meet Doric

   The Wise Old Man says something called 'the gatekeeper' blocks the path and that Doric is working on a magical barrier up in the Nexus. Build a base camp, follow the path up into the fortress and speak to Doric, then inspect the broken stone beside him. The Dreaming Stone tells you that shards of itself are missing and authorises you to use the Nexus nodes dotted around Dowdun Reach.

   Sweep the surface shards

   Thirteen Shard of the Dreaming Stone pieces are marked by yellow circles across the region, so bring a spade, pickaxe and a mithril or better logging axe. At The Cathedral, cut the vines in the south-west courtyard, and in The Garrison take the east shard from Sergeant Blister underground and the west shard by Windstepping onto the adjacent tower. In The Grand Hall, give Spittletoe five maple sap to trade for his shard.

   Clear the Library and Menagerie

   Unlock The Library by pulling the books in this sequence: The Empty Throne first, then The Eye of Oculus, next Taking the Crown, and finally Zamorak's Rebellion. Two shardbound lesser demons wait inside. Dig up the glass owl by the gargoyle south-west of the blue dragon and return it to Valerius for his shard. In The Menagerie, work through three levers — dug from the broken roof, hidden behind thorny vines, and set atop the ruins by the anima vent — and reach the south-east shard with a Windstep jumping puzzle.

   Take the Pastures and underground shards

   In The Pastures, mine the granite deposit at the top of the goblin fortress and clear the goblins around the east shard. Three shards sit underground: read the note in The Crypt and dig at any grave, beat two shardbound lesser demons at The Demon Gate after riding the lever elevator down, and hand Offalfoot a fish from the pool at The Lake. The Lake needs a fishing rod, and you will run into Delrom on the way there.

   Restore the stone and beat the Titan

   Return to the Dreaming Stone once all thirteen shards are in hand. It reveals itself as Avisk, drops the barrier, and points you at Lord Rasmodel — the Black Knight Titan. Head into The Bastion, climb to the top, slay the boss, then touch the barrier so you can face the Titan. The barrier may not let you teleport until every Nexus nodestone except The Bastion is unblocked.

   Return to Avisk

   Talk to Avisk at the Dreaming Stone. He acknowledges the Titan's death, offers you work when he next walks the world, and rewards you for staying your hammer. He then begins working the gate to the Umbral Sands loose.
