Walkthrough

Chase a red-robed mage through the portals of Dowdun Reach to recover Doric's stolen keepsake, activating nodestones as you go.

   Start in The Nexus

   Speak to Doric in The Nexus. A wizard knocked into him and fled through a nearby portal with a bronze dog keychain made by his son, Boric. Doric asks you to follow the trail, which will also switch on the keep's nodestones and open fast-travel routes.

   Activate the Cathedral nodestone

   Head to The Cathedral. Its nodestone sits on the north-west wing and cannot be reached from inside, so enter, turn right and follow the outer walkway. Where the parapets are missing, use Windstep to reach the upper ledge holding the nodestone and the mage's notes. Read the notes, activate the stone, then report to Doric.

   Activate the Garrison nodestone

   Go to The Garrison and enter the building with four turrets on the northern face. On the first floor, the mage's schematics lie on a crate near the nodestone. Activate the stone and return to Doric, who says the portal now shows glowing lights, water and rock — a demonic gateway.

   Clear the Demon Gate

   Make your way down to The Demon Gate, the caverns below Dowdun Keep and the only stop with a real fight. Fight or slip past the pair of shardbound lesser demons that guard an arena, then search the dead Zamorak mage's body on the far side. You find no keepsake, but you pick up a crumpled schematic.

   Return to Doric

   Bring the schematic back to Doric in The Nexus. He admits the mage never stole the bronze dog — it fell from his pocket behind a rock. By way of apology he identifies the design as the Zamorak staff and teaches you to craft it.

   Optional: all nine nodestones

   Switch on each of the nine nodestones across Dowdun Reach, then report back to Doric to claim a reward pack from the portal, holding tier 2 experience tomes for Artisan, Construction, Magic and Mining.
