Walkthrough

Zanik is investigating the corruption spreading through Dowdun Reach. Collect corrupted essence, source three ritual ingredients, then trace the contamination to its origin on the Grand Hall roof.

   Begin the investigation

   Start by speaking to Zanik beneath The Approach, or by taking a corrupted essence sample off any corrupted raven found in Dowdun Reach. Either route ends with Zanik requesting 10 samples.

   Collect the corrupted essence

   Hunt corrupted ravens across Dowdun Reach until you hold 10 corrupted essence samples, then hand them over to Zanik.

   Source three ingredients

   Zanik next wants three things: unholy water, a twilight lily and dragon blood. You can obtain the dragon blood by killing any dragon in Dowdun Reach, or by hunting the easier dragon wolf in Fellhollow. The twilight lily glows blue in front of an anima tree at The Lake, just south-west of Zanik. Unholy water comes from the statue behind The Cathedral; the fountain sits south-west of the Zamorakian acolytes, the mage of Zamorak and two elite Black Knights, and you can sneak to it without fighting.

   Trace the source

   Take all three items to Zanik, who asks you to find the root of the corruption. Make your way to The Nexus and into The Grand Hall, then use Windstep to climb to the roof while avoiding the Black Knight sniper and Black Knight guardian. A corrupted chicken named Putrilius waits up there — finish the dialogue with it.

   Report back to Zanik

   Head back to Zanik and report on what you discovered up on the Grand Hall roof. She expresses her thanks and hands over the Zamorak cape along with its recipe.
