Returning to Dragonwilds for 1.0: Save Recovery & Catch-Up Guide
Dragonwilds left Early Access on 15 September 2026. If you have not played since Fellhollow, Dowdun Reach or Umbral Sands, this is the short version: check your save first, then finish Regicide, refresh your build and take the fight to Kuldra.
First: Check Your Save
1.0 is an update, not a fresh start. Your existing character and world should carry over. The caveat is the save problems from the 1.0 window: some world saves disappeared and some characters were corrupted. Jagex shipped targeted fixes in 1.0.0.8 and 1.0.1, then followed up with 1.0.1.2.
If your character was corrupted, 1.0.1 added a catch-up path: the character can rejoin with aggregated stats and Tier 4 gear so you can get back into the fight. Treat that as a recovery route, not a full restoration. If a world is still missing, report it to Jagex support and keep any backup you have. On PC and dedicated servers, let saves finish before you quit; do not close the game during a character save.
The full sequence is in the 1.0.1 patch notes, including the 1.0.1.2 fixes for Air staff combos, Runecrafting resets, controller stack splitting, Xbox hosted worlds and Kuldra skips.
What You Missed
- Fellhollow (0.10): Farming, Imaru, mounts and the Castle building kit.
- Dowdun Reach (0.11): the Black Knight Titan, Fishing, dedicated servers and controller improvements.
- Umbral Sands (0.12): Fuzan, the Kalphite Queen, the Kot'Haar, the flying carpet mount and the Nightmare Crucible.
- 1.0: consoles and crossplay, the Scorned Wilderness raid, Kuldra the God-Eater, Regicide, Wands, Rune/Dragon/Ancestral gear and ten new enemy types.
- 1.0.1: save recovery, Jump Attack, Ranged specials and perks, 40-slot inventory, separate ring and amulet slots, compost upgrades and the Completed Quests tab.
Your Catch-Up Checklist
- Check the save, then back up what you can. If the character was corrupted, use the 1.0.1 catch-up. If the world is gone, report it rather than overwriting the slot.
- Finish Regicide. The quest opens the Scorned Wilderness and the Dragon Gate to Kuldra. Follow the Regicide guide.
- Refresh your build. Ranged is the big 1.0.1 winner: Ammo Recovery, Low Blow, subclass specials and Rune ammo. Attack gained Sprint Attacks and Jump Attack. Read the Ranged setup guide.
- Free up inventory space. You now have 40 slots and separate ring and amulet slots. Use the new sort options before a raid.
- Replace outdated gear. 1.0 added Power 8 and Power 9 equipment. Browse the item database and price the materials in the crafting calculator.
- Run the raid. The Kuldra guide covers the route, the four phases and the loot.
Rebuild Your Character
Ranged
Ranged picked up Ammo Recovery, Greater Ammo Recovery, Low Blow, Rapid Fire, Power Shot and Heavy Bolt. Rune arrows and bolts also moved ahead of Adamant. If you have a bow or crossbow lying around, it is worth a second look.
Melee and Jump Attack
1.0 added Sprint Attacks. 1.0.1 added the Death From Above! perk, which turns a jump into a plunging attack. The 1.0.1.2 hotfix also fixed the Dragon Scimitar Jump Attack case.
Inventory and quest journal
The inventory is 40 slots, rings and amulets have separate slots, and the Completed Quests tab now summarizes each quest's outcome. If you are replaying old content, the quest guides now show a completion outcome on every page.
The 1.0 Endgame Route
The new endgame is straightforward: finish Icthlarin's Little Helper, start Regicide, then enter the Scorned Wilderness from the north-western Fractured Plains. Build a base at Rasthin's Rest, push through Dragontail Vines, Fragments of Ghornfell, The Shattered Stronghold and Cataclysm Keep, then open the Dragon Gate in Kuldra's Sanctum.
Kuldra is Power 9 with 240,000 HP and cannot be damaged directly. The fight is built around the Anima Cannon: kill the Dragon Hatchling, charge the pylon and orb dispenser, fire six blasts per phase, then enter her body and destroy Kuldra's Heart. The full route is in the Kuldra guide.
What Comes Next
1.0.2 is announced for November 2026 with a new quest and bug fixes. 1.1 Luminance follows in December with Prayer, Earth magic, a new material, new quests and activities, new vestiges, secure servers and a new building kit. We will update the Skills Database, item database and boss database alongside those releases.

Returning to Dragonwilds — common questions
Saves, catch-up, gear and the 1.0 endgame.
1.0 is an update, not a fresh start, so existing characters and worlds should carry over. Some players did lose world saves or have characters corrupted around the 1.0 window. Jagex shipped targeted fixes in 1.0.0.8 and 1.0.1, plus a catch-up for corrupted characters.
