Walkthrough

KotHaar-Zi needs a body that can survive the Scorch. Bring them food, light four fire pedestals around the Burning Spire, then face the reforged Zi in the Cave of Screams.

   Meet Zi in the Burning Spire

   Accept the quest by speaking to KotHaar-Zi on the L-shaped island directly south-east of the Sunken Pyramid, in The Burning Spire. This quest requires partial completion of Icthlarin's Little Helper.

   Gather Scorch-proof food

   Zi explains that their body was not built for the Scorch and asks for 3 raw beltfish and 1 cactus steak. Bring both back to Zi.

   Touch the four fire pedestals

   Zi marks the area with a blue circle on your map and sends you to four fire-topped black pedestals around the Burning Spire. Touch all four in any order: east of the Sunken Pyramid on a large rock, north of it behind Zi, west of it, and south-west of Zi. Return to Zi once all four are lit.

   Talk past the Cave of Screams bouncer

   Go to the cave west of the Sunken Pyramid and find the KotHaar Bouncer at the entrance in the top-left of the Burning Spire, beside the tree icon on the map. Pick any of the first three dialogue options to receive a KotHaar numbering for dummies scroll, inspect it in your quest inventory, then answer the bouncer with "Two triangles separated by a line?" to be allowed inside.

   Defeat the reforged Zi

   Two hostile KotHaar-Xil and a hostile reforged Zi (KotHaar-Hok-Zi) attack as soon as you enter. Kill all three, then pick up the Zi core that appears on the ground.

   Claim the plate of pure obsidian

   Leave the cave and speak to the Bouncer again. They reward your help with a plate of pure obsidian, which unlocks the obsidian cape recipe.
